Herbal Medicine Chest ...

Your Herbal Medicine Chest: What should every home have? We would be glad to put a medicine chest together for you, specific to your family-based on your family’s needs.

To take internally:

  • Arnica Homeopathic by Boiron
    Take immediately for any strains, sprains or inflammation. Can also bring down swelling in bites.
  • Apis Homeopathic by Boiron
    Use internally for allergic reactions and bee stings.  Anti-histamines such as nettles/Quercetin can also be used. In an allergic medical emergency, apis may buy you crucial minutes to seek medical attention.
  • Immune Support by Eclectic Institute
    Take at the first sign of flu or virus take 4 capsules, 3 times a day to stimulate your natural immunity. Great to build up your immune system, before distance travel on planes.
  • Triphala by Banyan Botanicals
    Three fruits that tonify the colon gently, aiding in regularity of your bowels while you travel.
  • Ginger Glycerite by Eclectic Institute
    Relieves nausea, indigestion and motion sickness; warms the body at the first sign of illness.
  • Citricidal Capsules
    Grapefruit seed extract combined with echinacea to kill "stomach bugs" that can ruin your trip. Also, consider blackberry root tincture, which can halt diarrhea.
  • Throat Sprays by Eclectic Institute
    We offer a number of throat sprays. Fore sore throats associated with flus and virus, use our lomatium/osha spray; and for those associated with strep or bacterial infection, use echinachea/goldenseal throat spray.  Gargle with warm, salt water.
  • Phytobiotic by Wise Woman Herbals
    At the first sign of bacterial infection (either respiratory or digestive), the anti-microbial herbs in this herbal (anti) biotic will help your immune system to fight invaders.
  • Rescue Remedy by Bach Flower Essences
    A safe, homeopathic remedy. Allows a person to focus during stress, injury, anxiety.  Spray into your mouth as often as needed or take 4 drops in water and sip.
  • Rescue Sleep by Bach Flower Essences and Melatonin
    The name says it all. In the case of traveling across time zones, take one 3 mg melatonin 20 minutes before bed for the 3 nights before you leave and the first three nights of your arrival, on both ends of the travel.  Melatonin helps to reset your circadian rhythms.

To apply topically:

  • Calendula Gel by Boiron
    Apply externally to any wounds, cuts or scrapes, for mild-anti-microbial action and gentle skin healing.
  • Lavender Essential Oil by Floracopeia
    Use externally to induce a restful sleep.  Can also be applied to bug bites, wounds and sun burn for healing. Also, extremely anti-microbial.
  • Peppermint Essential Oil by Floracopeia 
    At the first sing of headache, apply to temples and base of head, and then close eyes and breathe deeply for at least 5 minutes.
  • Poison Ivy Solution by Twin Star Herbals
    Made with organic herbs such as jewelweed and plantain to give you relief from itchy skin rashes.
  • Burn Solution by Twin Star Herbals
    First aid for sunburn and minor burns.
  • Passiflora Bug Spray 
    We can't keep in the shop; contains lemon eucalyptus, neem and other essential oils to keep the bugs away.  If you are traveling to a heavily bug infested area, take neem and garlic capsules internally as well.  
  • Turmeric 
    Keep some turmeric powder on hand to use as a styptic (stop bleeding), if you cut yourself.
